Lessons & Instruction

Looking to improve your boating skills?

Orono Paddlers members make themselves available to help others learn to become better paddlers. Are you a novice and want to get started in boats? Or maybe you’ve always paddled one boat and want to learn others? Never tried whitewater? These lessons are meant to be very individualized, so any member who selects “Lessons and Instruction” on the membership form (or otherwise) will be contacted by an OP officer to discuss his/her interests and goals. That officer will then connect the paddler with a potential instructor who will make the arrangements for approximately 3 to 4 hours of instructional sessions. Members who receive instruction through this program are asked to make an additional $50 donation to Orono Paddlers to broadly support its programming.

Experienced paddlers are available to offer individual or small group instruction on SUP, solo and tandem canoe, and kayak, for both flatwater and moderate whitewater.   The goal of our instructional program is to serve the local paddling community, while raising operational funds through donations to OP.

Please contact us at orono.paddlers@gmail.com to arrange instructional sessions.
